- Beatle Juice Concert to Benefit CLM Foundation
Beatle Juice will be performing at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy in Derry on Friday, April 16, 2010. All proceeds from the concert and silent auction will benefit the Center for Life Management Foundation, which supports the mission of the non-profit community mental health agency.
Beatle Juice, a well-known group and fan favorite made up of New England’s most notable musicians, happily takes themselves and the audience on a journey through the Fab Four’s legacy. A splendid time is guaranteed for all ages. Opening for Beatle Juice will be Bedford’s own Kascade.

- Understanding Mental Health - Free Webcasts
The Center for Life Management will offer a series of free mental health awareness webcasts in May which is Mental Health Month. The webcasts are designed to help people recognize the signs and symptoms of common mental illnesses, learn what services and community supports are available, and identify peer and professional resources for help.
The webcasts will be held at the Center for Life Management at 10 Tsienneto Road in Derry from 5-6 p.m. Dates and topics for the educational programs will be:
- May 5, Understanding Depression
- May 12, Understanding Anxiety Disorders
- May 19, Understanding Psychosis
- May 26, Understanding Substance Use
As part of Mental Health Month activities, the National Council for Community Behavioral Health is providing this public education resource. The webcasts are presented by certified Mental Health First Aid USA instructors who will also be available to answer questions following the educational presentation. Clinical staff from the Center for Life Management will be hosting the presentations and will be available on-site to answer questions.

- Mental Health Matters on Community TV
|
CLM is now hosting a community television program called Mental Health Matters. The half hour program has an interview format with guests from CLM’s staff addressing a variety of mental health issues as well as providing information about our services. The program is being produced by CLM in conjunction with Derry Community TV and is being distributed for viewing on several area community television channels including Salem and others towns in our region. Check your local community television listings for scheduled programs.

- DWI Aftercare Group
CLM’s Adult Services is now offering a DWI Aftercare Group. The group, based on the “Prime Solutions” model of treatment, is designed for adults who have completed an Impaired Driver Intervention Program and have been referred for mandatory follow-up treatment. This approved intervention program is run by a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. The group meets one evening per week and members attend as many sessions as specified by their referring agency. Perspective participants must complete an intake appointment to determine appropriateness for the group. Fees may be covered by health plans.

- Coping with a Loved One’s Suicide
This peer support group meets every Friday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hampstead Public Library. Anyone who has lost a family member or friend to suicide is welcome to join the group. It is free and peer –facilitated. Call first to confirm meeting on a specific week.

- Anger Management Group for Adults
This is a twelve week group with a purpose of helping participants learn to manage anger effectively, stop violence or the threat of violence, develop self-control over thoughts and actions, and receive support from others. Participants must be willing to cooperate with group rules pertaining to safety, confidentiality, completion of home work assignments and attendance. Participants must attend a minimum of ten sessions in order to receive a certificate of completion.

- Pro-Social Skills Groups
For Ages 7 – 9 years and Ages 10-12 years
The group will consist of six one hour sessions, Topics covered will include: improving self-control, developing communication skills, learning to recognize and respond appropriately to social cues, initiating positive social interactions, learning to manage strong emotions such as anger and frustration, learning to accept and take responsibility for their actions, and learning to spot and manage themselves around bullying.

- DBT Adolescent Skills Group
For ages 13-15 or 15 -17 years
This is a twelve week introductory skills based group for teens and parents. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a treatment designed to help emotionally sensitive individuals to develop skills to cope with life’s stressors. Participants come from a variety of backgrounds and struggle with different kinds of problems including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, obsessional thinking, relationship difficulties, self-harm, poor anger management, and attention deficit disorder. The main topics covered by the group include:
- Interpersonal effectiveness: learning how to get what one want and needs in an interpersonal situation without sacrificing the relationship or one’s self-respect.
- Emotion Regulation: focuses on enhancing control of emotions. These skills can be useful to people with emotional ups and downs, intense emotional reactions, chronic depression or anger problems.
- Distress Tolerance: focuses on learning to tolerate distress and survive crises without engaging in impulsive behaviors such as drinking, drug use, or binge eating.

- Self-Esteem Group
For Females Age 12 to 17 years old, split between two age groups
This supportive and empowering group helps teen girls to challenge the negative messages they receive from themselves and society with the goal of helping them recognize and build self esteem. The goal is to build self esteem through group activities, encouraging positive choices, improving connections with others, and learning to become strong role models for other females. Group members will learn the definition of self esteem, measure and learn ways to improve their self esteem, and learn how to monitor and measure their progress.

- Child Impact Program
These seminars are geared for couples and families going through divorce. Children First is required of all couples seeking a divorce in Rockingham County and serves to guide couples in ways to successfully navigate through custody, separation or divorce issues and resolve conflicts. Children First helps parents better understand the impact of divorce on their children.

- NAMI Support Group
Welcomes any concerned family member or friends of persons who suffer with mental illness or brain disorders. The group provides both support and educational information. No fee and participants may join at any time.
