    Sixteen-year old Matt Savage has been called phenomenal and a jazz legend. Already a seasoned musician, he has performed with many of today’s jazz greats, appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and at the prestigious Lincoln Center. Matt has flourished as a musician and composer to emerge from his disability with a rare form of autism. Matt is an inspiration to all but especially to those who struggle with autism or other mental health disabilities.

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Management Series
    8 Weeks Tuesdays, September 23rd to November 11, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
    Instructor: Marsha Menter, MA, LCMHC; Certified Yoga Instructor
    CLM Training Room, 10 Tsienneto Road, Derry, NH

    This program is designed to teach mind and body awareness techniques to help people living with physical or psychological symptoms due to stress, pain or illness.

    Participants will learn what stress is, how it affects us and why we experience it. Each will learn how to identify stressors and practice mindfulness-based techniques to help manage the negative effects of stress. Techniques will include breath work, body scan, basic yoga, meditation, guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, awareness and self-care. These techniques can help you feel better, sleep better, increase your ability to cope with stressful situations, improve self-esteem, and renew enthusiasm for life.

  • Introduction to Mind-Body Medicine
    Wednesday, September 17, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
    CLM Training Room, 10 Tsienneto Road, Derry, NH

    Mind/body medicine is an approach to healing that uses the power of thoughts and emotions to positively influence physical health. Participants will learn more about the nature and power of the mind-body connection and how to draw upon their own capacity for self-knowledge and self-care. This introduction will touch upon various mind-body approaches such as relaxation, hypnosis, visual imagery, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, tai chi, gi chong, cognitive behavioral therapies, positive psychology, and group support.

    Participants will learn how these strategies can be effective in decreasing stress and reduce symptoms of health issues such as chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety disorders, depression, migraines, hypertension, cardiac disease, cancer and chronic muscle tension.

  • Pro-Social Skills Groups
    For Ages 7 – 9 years and Ages 10-12 years


    The group will consist of six one hour sessions, Topics covered will include: improving self-control, developing communication skills, learning to recognize and respond appropriately to social cues, initiating positive social interactions, learning to manage strong emotions such as anger and frustration, learning to accept and take responsibility for their actions, and learning to spot and manage themselves around bullying.

  • DBT Adolescent Skills Group
    For ages 13-15 or 15 -17 years


    This is a twelve week introductory skills based group for teens and parents. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a treatment designed to help emotionally sensitive individuals to develop skills to cope with life’s stressors. Participants come from a variety of backgrounds and struggle with different kinds of problems including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, obsessional thinking, relationship difficulties, self-harm, poor anger management, and attention deficit disorder. The main topics covered by the group include:
    • Interpersonal effectiveness: learning how to get what one want and needs in an interpersonal situation without sacrificing the relationship or one’s self-respect.
    • Emotion Regulation: focuses on enhancing control of emotions. These skills can be useful to people with emotional ups and downs, intense emotional reactions, chronic depression or anger problems.
    • Distress Tolerance: focuses on learning to tolerate distress and survive crises without engaging in impulsive behaviors such as drinking, drug use, or binge eating.

  • Social Skills Group
    For Ages 9 to 13 years and Ages 14-19 years


    Our Social Skills Group focus is to increase social skills and improve peer interactions for children and young adults with autism, aspergers or PDD.

  • Self-Esteem Group
    For Females Age 13 to 15 years old


    This ten-week supportive and empowering group helps teen girls to challenge the negative messages they receive from themselves and society and help them recognize and build self esteem. The goal is to build self esteem through group activities, encouraging positive choices, improving connections with others, and learning to become strong role models for other females.

  • Children First Program

    These seminars are geared for couples and families going through divorce. Children First is required of all couples seeking a divorce in Rockingham County and serves to guide couples in ways to successfully navigate through custody, separation or divorce issues and resolve conflicts. Children First helps parents better understand the impact of divorce on their children.

  • NAMI Support Group

    Welcomes any concerned family member or friends of persons who suffer with mental illness or brain disorders. The group provides both support and educational information. No fee and participants may join at any time.

    1. Mondays, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, Derry, NH.
    2. Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Kelley Library, Salem, NH
